Hosadurga MLA attempts suicide

High drama prevailed in Hosadurga on Sunday night after local MLA (BJP) Gulihatti Shekhar “attempted to commit suicide” by dousing himself with petrol.

The MLA had alleged that the police were registering cases against innocent persons in connection with illegal sand mining.

While staging a protest in this connection in front of the police station in Hosadurga, the MLA attempted to set himself on fire by pouring petrol over himself. However, the MLA’s supporters and the police intervened and foiled the attempt, reports DHNS from Chitradurga.

Petrol entered the eyes and nose of the MLA and he was immediately admitted to taluk hospital. He is stated to be out of danger.
