II PU exam from tomorrow

As many as 6.7 lakh students will take the II Pre-University exam, starting March 1.

Speaking to reporters, S R Umashankar, principal secretary, Department of Primary and Secondary Education, said, “A total of 2,01,022 Arts students will write the II PU exam while 2,18,068 students are eligible to take the exam in Science stream. As many as 2,54,516 Commerce students can appear for the exam.”

“We are being very vigilant this time. Under Karnataka Secure Examination System (KSES), we are monitoring the strong rooms in Treasury offices, where questions papers have been dispatched to, and vehicles with GPS devices were used to do the same. Apart from surveillance cameras, motion sensor devices have been installed to prevent theft,” he added.

“This year exam will be conducted in 1,013 theory exam centres while 1,028 have been identified for practical exams. A total of 1,013 supervisors and 1028 assistant supervisors have been appointed to oversee the smooth conduct of the exam. As many as 2,026 special squads will be active during the course of examination across the state,” he said.

In an attempt to speed up the evaluation process, answer scripts of all students would be uploaded online, this year. About 38 lakh answer scripts will be evaluated.

The KSRTC has announced that the students taking exams can travel free between their house/hostel and exam centre.

This is the first time that economics, business studies and accountancy students will take exams in NCERT framework.
