JD(S) worker killed in clash with Cong men

A JD(S) worker was killed in a clash between Congress and JD(S) workers at a bar in Kotaladinne near Hosur in Gauribidanur taluk on Thursday night.

The JD(S) worker who died in the attack was identified as Rama Reddy (27), a resident of Hale Upparahalli village, the police said.

This incident occurred around 9.30 pm. A petty quarrel between Hale Upparahalli resident and rowdy sheeter Ramesh (33) of the Congress and JD(S) workers turned violent.

Ramesh and his followers attacked the victim all of a sudden with lethal weapons. Besides Rama Reddy, Narendra (32), Manjunath (28) and Ambareesh (30) were injured in the clash.

The police said Narendra’s condition is serious and he has been shifted to a private hospital in Doddaballapur.

Rama Reddy was to get married on May 5, according to his relatives.

The police took Ramesh, who was also injured in the clash, into custody. Protesting against the attack, JD(S) workers smashed the windows of a police jeep. Superintendent of Police Karthik visited the spot.

The Gauribidanur Rural police have registered a case and tightened the security in the town.
