The delegation of Jammu and Kashmir Legislature Environment Committee comprising its Chairman and MLA Nizamuddin, Rafi Ahmed Mir, Basherat Bukhari and Peerzada Mansoor on Wednesday discussed with the officials of the Departments of forest and environment various challenges faced on the environmental front and the remedial measures to be initiated.

They also asked the Karnataka government to take measures to curb pollution that will have a deeper impact on ecology. The delegation was however quite happy with the measures taken by the Karnataka government to preserve ecology.
The members of the delegation later visited Deccan Herald office and informed mediapersons that the impact of global warming is quite evident on the Himalayan glaciers.
The glaciers, they informed, are shrinking fast and threatening the existence of the country’s rivers originating there.
