Superstar Rajinikanth-starrer Tamil movie Kaala's screening was halted in Ballari, Raichur, Sindhanur and Manvi following protests by Kannada organisations on Thursday.
The Kannada organisations' activists barged inside Sangameshwar theatre in Sindhanoor and tore posters. They also threw black ink on Rajinikanth's face in the poster.

Padmanabh theatre management in Raichur cancelled the screening in the wake of protests in different parts of the state. Tickets had already been distributed and the audiences were thronging the theatre in large number.

In Manvi, Kannada activists submitted a memorandum to tahsildar against the screening of the movie.

In Ballari, Janasainya members staged a protest against the screening of the movie in Radhika theatre. The police rushed to the spot and detained the protesters.

Despite the protests, the screening is likely to start from the evening in police protection.
