30,000 BPL cards ready for distribution

Urban Development Minister Vinay Kumar Sorake has said that a vigilance committee would be formed to look into the irregularities in the PDS system in ration shops. As many as 30,000 new BPL cards have been generated in the district and the same will be distributed to the applicants soon.

Speaking after distributing the benefits under various beneficiary programmes here at Nellikatte on Sunday, the minister said the government is concerned over the poor and has initiated programmes, wherein the beneficiary can avail the benefits of developmental schemes at his doorsteps. The pension adalath will be held frequently to ensure that poor people are availing various benefits like Sandhaya Suraksha Yojane, Bhaghyalaxmi Yojane, Manasvini Yojane etc. Additional counters to receive the applications under Section 94C, Land Reform Act will be opened. A counter in Heeriyadka will be opened shortly, he said.

Sorake added that the district has been allotted with nearly 1000 houses, of which Kaup assembly constituency will receive 500 houses. He said the government spends Rs 960 in the form of subsidy given to each family under Anna Bhagya Yojane.

Around 683 are receiving benefits under Manasvini Yojane in Udupi district.

Proposal approved

The minister said the proposal to include Manipur and Hejmadi has been approved under Multi Village Drinking water scheme. Plans have been chalked out to include Korangrapadi, 80-Badagabettu, Alevoor to Udupi CMC also in the scheme. The first grade college in Heeriyadka was upgraded at the cost of Rs one crore. The Parika-Bairampalli bridge has been revamped at the cost of Rs six crore. The detailed project report for the road widening from Athradi to Bajpe airport is underway. A sum of Rs 45 lakh is been allotted to repair Udupi-Baje bridge. He called upon the officials to respond immediately to the public grievances.

Income certificates from schools

Meanwhile, AC Yogeshwar said that henceforth the pension adalath would be organised every month. Besides revenue adalath will be introduced shortly and the first revenue adalath will be organised at Vandse Gram Panachyath on June 27. The RTC problems of the farmers will be set right on the spot, unless it needs major interventions. As many as 3,000 applications are received from homless in the district, of which 1,000 applicants will receive the benefits shortly. A data base will be created to distribute caste and income certificate for the students and from now onwards, the students will receive their income certificates in schools, he maintained.
