Clear pending Vajapayee scheme applications, DC tells banks

Of which, 777 applications are pending with the banks. The applications should be reviewed and financial assistance should be released immediately to allow the poor to construct houses, said Deputy Commissioner Dr N S Channappa Gowda.

Speaking at a review meeting, he directed the officials to show at least 75 per cent progress in disposing the files by November end. All the bank managers should work in coordination in the district.

The Lead Bank officer informed the meeting that copy of the approval for the scheme, khatha or RTC, income certificate should be provided for availing the loan facility. However, income certificate is not mandatory for issuing the loan, he clarified.

The DC also reviewed the collection of water tax, trade licenses and directed the officials to complete the target by next month.  Dr Gowda also directed the officials to give a report on disconnection drive on those who failed to pay the water bill.

He said the officials should pay attention towards laying a minimum one park in TMC and CMC limits. He said that if there was any mistake in identifying the site for the SC/ST, then it would amount to atrocity.

District Development Cell Project Director Thakat Rao welcomed the gathering.
