'GST Day' celebration in Mysuru

Last Updated 12 July 2017, 19:12 IST

The Mysuru GST Commissionerate organised a ‘GST Day’ function at its headquarters recently.

“GST is expected to set the path for one nation, one tax and one market, marking the beginning of a new, gig-
antic economic era in India. It is designed to create one economic India by providing level playing field for customers and producers across the country. It comes with advantages to trade and manufacturers with in-built common procedures for registration, duty payment refund and return filing,” retired chief commissioner S Rajkumar said.

He emphasised that the single tax system is set to bring down prices of most items and that it would benefit all.

He reiterated that GST is a simplified structure of indirect taxation by way of nullifying cascading of taxes, harmonisation of laws, rules, procedures and tax rates throughout the nation.

There are only five slabs on a comprehensive basis of supply of goods and services. GST would be much easier to administer.

Implementation of GST is an ongoing and incremental process. In this exercise, no queries will be left unattended to by the officials of the GST, Commissioner G V Krishna Rao said.

Arjun Ranga, chairman of the Confederation of Indian Industries, Mysuru chapter, Robert Grobbauer, managing director AT&S, and Pradeep Suman, Commissioner (Appeals), were present.
