Kodagu ZP seeks Rs 5 crore more for MGNREGS

A total of Rs 9.04 crore was sanctioned for the district for the implementation of MGNREGS in 2010-11. However, the ZP could spend only Rs 1.13 crore as on Monday and Rs 7.89 crore is still pending as unutilised. Though the ZP had submitted its proposal for more funds, the government has not released it so far.

Only Rs 6.89 lakh was spent for the implementation of development works under MNREGS in Madikeri taluk in the year. In Somwarpet, the total amount spent was Rs 52.81 lakh and in Virajpet, it is Rs 53.94 lakh. It can be recalled here that in the previous year, more than Rs 13 crore was spent for the implementation of the Scheme in the district.

Job cards

A total of 44,522 families have registered under the Scheme in the district, wherein 43,611 job cards were distributed so far. While 11,140 set of works were taken up in the district, approval was given for 10,780.17 works.

While 12,500 families were registered under the Scheme in Madikeri taluk, job cards were distribted 12,347 members. A total of 3,678 set of works were taken up in the taluk, wherein 2,876.16 works were approved.

In Somwarpet taluk, while 15,643 families are registered under the Scheme, 15,713 job cards were ditributed. While 3,597 set of works were taken up in the taluk, approval was given for 4,084.94 works. 

In Virajpet taluk, a total of 16,379 families have registered under the Scheme and job cards were distributed to 15,551 beneficiaries. A total of 3,865 set of works were taken up and 3,829.07 works were approved.
