MCC tax collection drive from Nov 5

Separate counters will be opened at designated residential areas

The Mysore City Corporation has launched a tax collection drive from November 5 to December 5 in order to provide better facilities and for the all round development of the city.

The drive will be taken up with the assistant commissioner of each zone leading the team and they will be involved in the collection of property tax, water tax, tax dues, renewal of trade licences and registration, said a release from the MCC commissioner M R Ravi.

For the convenience of the public, separate counters will be opened in the designated residential areas so that they can pay in cash, DDs or cheques. In this drive SBM, Vijaya Bank, ING Vysya Bank and Syndicate bank are going to participate.

On this occasion, information to property tax payers in the respective zonal limits will be given on property identification number (PID). This will help the tax payers to pay the tax online in future.

The tax payers in the city are requested to make use of this one month drive to submit various property and other documents, said Ravi in the release.

VA trapped

A village accountant has been trapped by the Lokayukta, while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 4,000 in front of Nimishamba Enterprises on Shivarampet Road, in Mysore, on Wednesday.

Nagaraj, village accountant in Mysore taluk’s Gujjegowdanapura, was trapped after a complaint was filed by Prasanna. He had demanded money to remove the name of Chikka Venkatgowda’s grandmother Venkatamma who owned one acre 10 guntas of land from the RTC. The same village accountant had allegedly been paid Rs 20,000 two years ago to make alterations in the RTC. Since he had again demanded money, Prasanna had filed a complaint with the Lokayukta.

Lokayukta police superintendent M Dharmendra has registered a case and further investigation is on.
