The filing of nominations for the forthcoming Zilla Panchayat and Taluk Panchayat elections will commence from December 13. With this, the political activities will be accelerated in the district.

In the meantime, BJP, Congress, and JD(S) have decided to contest the election independently. As a rersult, there will be triangular fight in the election. The political parties are likely to finalise the lists of their candidates within two to three days. Congress was ready for alliance with JD(S) to defeat BJP. However, as JD(S) Supremo H D Deve Gowda failed to show green signal for the alliance with Congress, the chances of Congress-JD(S) alliance are remote in the district.
