JOIN USPermission granted to lift sand from 6 new blocks in Kodagu
Mines and Geology Department Officer Mahesh said permission has been granted for lifting sand from six new blocks in the district.
Tenders will be invited for the sand extraction shortly, he added.
Speaking at the monthly KDP meeting, chaired by Zilla Panchayat President Chodumada Shareen Subbaiah convened here on Wednesday, he said that Publlic Works Department has already identified the sand blocks.
According to the government’s direction, small blocks have been identified at the Gram Panchayat limits for the extraction of sand. The sand blocks have been identified in the newly-formed 29 Gram Panchayats. A meeting, held under the chairmanship of deputy commissioner, has decided to seek clearance from the Environment Department for these sand blocks. The proposal will be submitted to the department shortly, Mahesh explained.
The meeting resolved to submit a report to the State government on complaints against engineers for installing solar lamps without inviting tenders. Shareen said she has not received any files related to the installation of solar lamps.
It was brought to the notice of the meeting that the purchase of paddy under minimum support price has been started in the district. But, there are complaints of middlemen menace while purchasing the paddy. The Zilla Panchayat president directed the Agriculture Department joint director to constitute a special team to check the middlemen menace.
She said rice, provided to poor under Public Distribution System (PDS), is being sold at black market. The ration card should be distributed to those who have applied for it in the district, she added.
Tourism Department Assistant Director V Phanish said a parking complex can be constructed, if land is given in Madikeri. A proposal was submitted to the CMC seeking land for the same, Phanish added.
ITDP Officer Sathish said a proposal to supply nutritious food to Kudiya community members has been submitted to the government.
Zilla Panchayat Vice President Allaranda Beena Bollamma said that tribals do not have basic facilities at Majjigehalla in Thithimathi.
The Zilla Panchayat president directed the officials to provide drinking water facilities to Thithimathi school, effectively implement Namma Grama Namma Yojane and promote pepper culture through the Horticulture Department.
