Addressing a press meet, Federation Secretary Madhu Bopanna said the decision to include Kodagu in Western Ghats protection zone was decided at a meeting in Mysore. However, none of the elected representatives from the district were invited for the meeting. Taking a decision without considering the opinion of the public should be condemned.

There is a need to protect nature without harming the traditional dwellers of the Kodagu district, he said.

He alleged that District-in-Charge Minister C H Vijayashankar was not responding the problems of the district and urged the Minister to solve the row over land ownership and tree ownership at the earliest.

A sub committee had been constituted to solve the problems. Speaker K G Bopaiah should place the problems of Jamma bane and Tree Ownership before the Cabinet, he added.
Ramesh Muddaiah asked why permission was given for the construction of resorts when they speak on the protection of Western Ghats.  Office-bearer B T Dinesh and others were present.
