KJP candidate arrested

 The Rajarajeshwarinagar police arrested Venkatesh Gowda, KJP candidate, contesting the Assembly poll from Rajarajeshwarinagar Assembly constituency on charges of threatening an election returning officer and obstructing him from discharging official duties.

Gowda allegedly threatened that he would teach the officer a lesson if he was not permitted to take out processions and would stage protests. The police arrested him on Thursday and produced before a local court and he was remanded to judicial custody.
Siddaiah said, “We received a report on Gowda, late on Wednesday from the returning officer,” he said. 

Gowda was allegedly involved in similar incidents in Jnanabharathi as well. He allegedly assaulted two BBMP officials at Health Layout in Jnanabharathi police limits on Wednesday when they had come to raid the KGP office following reports that he had stored banners without prior permission, the police said.

He allegedly abused a BSR Congress leader referring to his caste a week ago. Gowda had reportedly collected Rs two lakh from him, when Gowda was in the BSR Congress party, promising a ticket from Mandya. Gowda joined the KJP and failed to return Rs two lakh. The police registered a case.
