Defence Minister to campaign in Udupi

Sitting BJP MP and candidate for Udupi-Chikmagalur Lok Sabha constituency Shobha Karandlaje said that Union Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will visit Udupi on March 26.

Karandlaje said she will file another set of nominations in Nirmala’s presence.

A convention of women, fishermen and party workers was planned on March 31. From March 31 to April 7, she will hold booth-level meetings. After the meetings, party workers will take up door-to-door campaign.

Karandlaje said besides Nirmala, Kiran Maheshwari, who is in-charge of elections in Karnataka, will campaign in the constituency. She accused the state government of being anti-development and indulging in defaming the BJP. Voters would opt for NOTA instead of Congress and JD(S), she stressed.

She said Congress had lost its roots in Chikkamagaluru by handing the Lok Sabha constituency to JD(S).
