Last Updated 23 March 2021, 18:41 IST

Demanding authorities to check the wild elephant and tiger menace, the members of Rajya Raitha Sangha, under the leadership of Sangha Kodagu district unit president Kadyamada Manu Somaiah, staged a protest in front of Aranya Bhavan, in Bengaluru, on Monday.

The tigers have been straying into the villages in Kodagu. The movement of some more tigers has been noticed. The officials from the forest department should initiate measures to capture all the tigers that have strayed into the villages, demanded the farmers.

The coffee estates have incurred losses during the operation to capture the tiger. The farmers should be given maximum compensation for the losses, they demanded.

PCCF Vijaykumar Gogi arrived at the spot and held discussions with the farmer leaders.

He said that the dangerous tiger has already died and a female tiger has been captured.

Measures will be taken to ensure that people do not face inconvenience, he added.
