Fuel price hike: Auto drivers demand revision of fare

Last Updated 09 February 2021, 20:32 IST

With the hike in the prices of petrol and diesel, the Auto Drivers’ Association has demanded a revision of auto fares.

The association members staged a protest in front of the taluk office and submitted a memorandum to the authorities.

Association president M M Shashidharan said the rise in the prices of petrol and diesel has, in turn, increased the rise in the price of essential commodities. In spite of the rising price of petrol and diesel, the authorities have failed to revise the auto fare.

Association vice president A R Chandru said that the auto fares have not been revised since 2016.

The RTA should revise the fare immediately. If this is not done, we auto drivers will hike the fare from February 25, he added.
