Mass marriage: 24 couples tie the knot

A mass marriage was organised by Al Ameen Kodagu district unit at Kaveri Hall in Madikeri on Sunday.

Speaking on the occasion, former MLA K M Ibrahim called upon the people to strive for simple marriages instead of lavish marriages.

Al Ameen Kodagu district unit has been holding mass marriages for the last 13 years, thus helping the poor. In the last 13 years, 331 poor and destitute persons have been married.

A total of 24 brides from Madikeri, Kushalnagar, Koppa, Gondibasavanahalli, Karnangeri, Rangasamudra, Kanbail, Bembalooru, Hosakote, Kandakere, Kadagadalu, Shanivarasanthe, Kodlipete, Napoklu, Abhyathmangal, Garagandooru, Gonikoppa, Thithimathi and Piriyapattana entered into wedlock on the occasion.

Gold ornaments and dresses were given free of cost to the bride and groom.
