PU examination: Kodagu retains third position in state

Kodagu district has come in third place in PU results. The district secured third place in the state in PU results last year as well.

The pass percentage this year is 83.31% while it was 83.94% last year.

A total of 4,313 students out of 5,177 students who appeared for the exam have passed.

As many as 931 out of 1,258 students have passed in Arts, 2,382 out of 2,736 students have passed in Commerce and 1,000 out of 1,183 students have passed in the Science stream.

The pass percentage of Arts, Commerce and Science is 74%, 87% and 85% respectively.

District PU Education Department Deputy Director K Kenchappa said that the results have been satisfying. Due to natural calamity in the district, the students had missed their classes. However, the October holidays were cut short and extra classes were conducted to cover the syllabus.

The students and the teachers have worked hard to bring a good pass percentage, he added.

Sadashiva Swamiji Composite PU College Kodlipet has achieved 100% results. Students of the college, K P Bhakti and D S Impana (both from Commerce) have scored 94% and 93% respectively.

St Mary Commerce College Suntikoppa too has achieved 100% results. A S Poovamma has scored 97.16%.

St Annamma College has achieved 99% results. Vaishnavi from the college has scored 581 marks in Science. Zaid has scored 568 marks and Chaitra has scored 563 marks in Science. Sakshi (Commerce) has scored 574 marks.

St Joseph Girls College, Madikeri, has recorded 93.70% results. B D Vidyashree (Science) has secured 97%, K A Safwana (Commerce) has scored 98% and P N Jyothi (Arts) has secured 89.33%.

St Micheal’s School, Madikeri has recorded 97.09% results. V M Sujit, Prakhyat and Hemashree from Science have scored 551, 547 and 545 marks respectively.

From Commerce Chandini Devappa has scored 546 marks, B S Spoorthi has scored 563 marks and C A Raihan has scored 561 marks.

Labourer’s son secures 95%

L R Manu, a student of government PU college in Moornadu, Napoklu, has secured 571 out of 600 marks (95%) in PU board examination. He has scored 100 marks each in Kannada and Mathematics.

He is the son of L H Rajan and Kumari, residents of Indira Nagara. Manu’s father works as a labourer. L R Manu said he devoted five hours in the evening for studies.

L H Rajan said that his son’s achievement has made him proud. He had secured 93% marks in SSLC.

Manu aspires to get into a professional course.
