MLA K G Bopaiah predicted that the BJP candidate in Mysuru-Kodagu, Pratap Simha will win again and Narendra Modi will become the prime minister for a second term.

Speaking at a BJP meeting held at Bal Bhavan in Madikeri on Friday, he said that during the last Parliamentary election, there was a polling of 73.84% in Madikeri Assembly constituency and this time, the polling recorded is 76.74%. A similar trend is found in Mysuru city, Piriyapattana and Hunasuru.

He exuded confidence in BJP getting the majority of votes.

The coalition partners have been carrying out false propaganda against the BJP. But the party workers have not paid heed to the same. The party is ready to face challenges in future as well, he said.

MLA Appacchu Ranjan said that the BJP candidate will emerge victorious with a huge margin. The BJP workers and leaders have sought votes on the achievements of Narendra Modi and it is not wrong.

He further said that the state coalition government will collapse after the Lok Sabha election results are announced and B S Yeddyurappa will become the chief minister.

MLC Sunil Subramani said that the people of Kodagu are well aware of the fact that the nation is important than any party. This is evident with the victims of natural calamity casting their votes in large numbers.

Protest after May 23

Urging the state government to provide rehabilitation to the victims of the natural calamity, a protest will be staged by the BJP after May 23. The construction of houses meant for the victims is not completed in Kumburu, Madenadu and Karnangeri. The work should be completed before the onset of monsoon, said Bopaiah.

“The Central government had issued a grant of Rs 546 crore to the district following the natural calamity. This is the largest amount of grant the district has received till date. But the state government is not utilising the funds effectively. Also, the amount of money collected from donors is not revealed. The people have lost their patience,” he added.
