The headmaster of Kadavooru Government Model Higher Primary School has been suspended for violating model code of conduct.

Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer Hephsiba Rani Korlapati has suspended Sundar, a government employee, for participating in political activities.

Sundar, during Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy’s election rally held at Karkala on April 7, had allegedly submitted a memorandum to the chief minister seeking distribution of DC manna land and self employment opportunities to poor landless SC/ST people, many of whom work on contract basis.

As the model code of conduct is in force since March 10, government employees are not allowed to take part in any political campaigns and programmes during the period.

Sundar is charged with taking part in a political party’s meeting and carrying out a campaign. He has been suspended under The Representation of People Act, 1951.
