River Somavathi in Chikkamagaluru district is in spate, following heavy rain in the Samse and Kudremukh regions.
Power supply was snapped in the region, as electricity poles were uprooted. The lack of stormwater drains created a flood-like situation near the government primary school in Samse. Water entered a few houses in the vicinity.
Following rain in and around Kudremukh and surrounding areas, the water level in River Bhadra and its tributaries has increased drastically.
A 10-year-old girl suffered injuries when a tree fell on a house at Kagganalla Padil. The house belongs to Prasad and Pavithra. The injured is Prajna. The gusty wind across Mudigere taluk uprooted several trees.
A tree fell on the Gowdalli-Bhairapura road and disrupted the movement of vehicles to Bhairapura and Hoskere. Another tree fell on NH 234 at Bettadamane and affected the movement of vehicles for an hour. Two houses were damaged following a landslide at
Mannikere. The water level in rivers Hemavathi, Thunga, Bhadra, Chikkalla and Japavathi has increased drastically.
Farmers fear rotting of the ginger crop if there is no respite from rain. The coffee growers have declared holiday for labourers due to the downpour.
Heavy rain continued to lash Talacauvery and Bhagamandala in Kodagu district. The district administration has declared a holiday for schools and colleges on Monday.
Movement of vehicles was affected with the water from Cauvery river flowing on to the Bhagamandala-Napoklu road. Intermittent rain lashed Virajpet, Gonikoppa, Kutta and Makutta. In the last 24 hours, Bhagamandala received 180 mm, Shanthalli 222 mm and Napoklu 135 mm.
The water level in Harangi reservoir stood at 2,799.44 feet. The maximum storage capacity of the reservoir is 2,859 feet. The inflow of water is 3,968 cusecs.
With gusty wind and heavy rain lashing for the last two days, pthe ower supply has been affected in almost the entire district. Two bridges have been inundated following an increase in water level at Ambalapole in Naladi.
Cloudy sky prevailed in Mysuru city and surrounding areas, with light showers in parts of the district.
Hassan district and surrounding areas received light rain since morning. The inflow into Hemavathy river has increased due to continuous rain for the past few days. Maddur, KR Pet and Nagamangala taluks in Mandya district received intermittent rain.
Monsoon intensified in Dharwad district late on Saturday night and throughout the day on Sunday. Showers lashed Yellapur, Haliyal, Sirsi and Siddapur taluks of Uttara Kannada district.
Farmers are a happy lot, following good showers Hanumasagar in Kushtagi taluk, Koppal district and are readying the fields for sowing. A check dam in Hanumasagar breached, leading to wastage of water. Good showers have been reported across Koppal and Kalaburagi districts.
Drizzling continued in Ballari district, including Hosapete and also in Gadag district. Monsoon entered Channagiri in Davangere district.
The Jog Falls in Sagar taluk of Shivamogga district has come alive thanks to showers in the Sharavathi basin.
As much as 13,000 cusecs of water was released from Tunga dam near Shivamogga on Sunday, following incessant rain in Thirthahalli taluk over the last few days. Shivamogga, Bhadravathi, Sagar, Thirthahalli, Hosanagar, Sorab and Shikaripur taluks received good spell of rains.
Heavy rains lashed Belagavi the entire day, throwing life out of gear. Intermittent rains lashed Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Haveri and Chitradurga districts.
