Munishamappa withdraws resignation after assurance by Deve Gowda

JD(S) supremo H D Deve Gowda has assured his party MLA from Devanahalli, Pilla Munishamappa, of fielding him from the same constituency in the next Assembly polls.

Following the assurance, Munishamappa withdrew his resignation on Friday, which he had submitted to Legislative Assembly Speaker K B Koliwad on Thursday.

It is said, Gowda assured the MLA that all his grievances and demands would be addressed. Gowda had met him on Thursday night.

Munishamappa had resigned stating that he was hurt after party state president H D Kumaraswamy inducted his political foe in the constituency Nisarga Narayanaswamy into the party. Besides, Kumaraswamy had promised Narayana-swamy that he will be given the party ticket to contest from Devanahalli in the Assembly polls, next year. Gowda reportedly told Munishamappa that it was he (Gowda) who issued party tickets and not Kumaraswamy.

Speaking to reporters, Munishamappa said it is true that he is hurt by the way his party is treating him. “But the people have elected me for five years and I will complete my tenure,” he said.
