Infosys Foundation Chairperson and writer Sudha Murthy on Wednesday received a formal invitation from the government to flag off the 10-day Mysuru Dasara on October 10.

Mysuru district in-charge minister G T Devegowda, Tourism Minister Sa Ra Mahesh, JD(S) MLA H Vishwanath, Mysuru Deputy Commissioner Abhiram G Sankar and others, extended the invitation to her at her Jayanagar residence in Bengaluru this morning.

Sudha, the wife of Infosys founder N R Narayan Murthy, will be inaugurating the 'Nada Habba' atop the Chamundi Hill.

The government has decided to scale down this year's Dasara festivities owing to the devastation in Kodagu due to floods and also the prevailing drought situation in several districts.
The herd of elephants, led by Arjuna, have already set the tone for the festivities by arriving in the historic city last month.

They will be the highlight during the traditional Dasara procession - 'Jamboo Savari - which will be held on October 19. Arjuna, the 52-year-old elephant, will carry the 750 kg golden howdah with Goddess Chamundeshwari during the procession.

Invitation to CM

After inviting Sudha, the team led by Devegowda later invited Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy. Formal invitations will also be extended to Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara, Governor Vajubhai Vala and Chief Justice of Karnataka High Court Justice Dinesh Maheshwari.
