JOIN USSpeaking to reporters, Vasumitra said entry of multinational companies in postal services had made it essential for the Indian postal department to re-invent itself and ‘Project Arrow’ was an effort towards this.
The Indian Postal department has introduced ‘Air Logistics’ services. It has acquired an aircraft recently, which will fly to all the metropolitan cities in the country. “The Indian Postal Department is the only government agency in the country to own an aircraft,” Vasumitra said.
He added that plans were on to upgrade as many as 500 post offices in the state, which have already been computerised, within a year. The department is spending an approximate of Rs 10 lakh for upgradation of each post office under this project,” he added.
