Director General & Inspector General of Police (in charge) S T Ramesh on Monday directed Gagandeep to conduct an inquiry and furnish a report within 20 days.
The police inspector of Koppal town, who was present when the lathi-charge took place, has been asked to go on leave to facilitate a fair inquiry.
The Koppal superintendent of police has already suspended an assistant sub inspector and a police constable in connection with the incident.
