PU Board to employ tech to prevent exam paper leaks

Last Updated 19 February 2019, 06:28 IST

In a bid to prevent leak of PU question papers, the Department of Pre-University Education has resolved to employ technology and rope in Central Crime Branch and Criminal Investigation Department sleuths.

Speaking at the phone-in programme organised by Prajavani-Deccan Herald, PU Board Director P C Jaffer said measures were in place to plug in question paper leaks. The II PU question paper leaks in 2016 had led to the crisis.

“Starting from drafting of question paper to printing and to the distribution of the same to the students at the exam centres, there are several steps to be adhered to. Special arrangements have
been made to ensure that secrecy and security have been maintained at every step,” he said.

He said only one or two persons in the department will know about the drafting of the question papers. “The person/s preparing the paper will be taken to a particular place where the drafting work is completed,” he said.

The director said those who cause the leak and those who cooperate with the perpetrators will be sent to jail. Strict action will be initiated against those who spread fake news of paper leak on social media.

High security

Security will be heightened at strong rooms, where the question papers are kept. The biometric device will be used to screen the visitors, who will not be allowed to take a camera or any electronic device inside.

CCTV cameras will record the entire process. Sensors will alert any breach in the security.
