Rain batters Chikmagalur

Tippu and Aravind Nagar in the city under two-foot deep water

The rain held the residents of Tippu Nagar at ransom as the locality was flooded by water. Many household articles and grocery at the house of Shakeela Famida was washed away by the water.

Her house and cow shed attached to it was under two-foot deep water. Besides, a portion of the front wall of the house has also collapsed.

The residents alleged that in spite of the havoc wreaked by the rain none of the City Municipal Council members bothered to visit them.

Good samaritan

Many school children in Tippu Nagar struggled to go to schools due to standing water. Kumar, a good samaritan, helped many children to reach schools. The plight of people was same even in Aravind Nagar which was also flooded.

Tank overflowing

The incessant rain from past few days has lead to the overflowing of Basavanahallikere. The officials concerned let the excess water through a canal to Kotekere. It is also learnt that even Kotekere is filled to brim to the inflow of the water from Basavanahallikere tank.

Maximum and minimum

Hariharapura in Koppa taluk received 61.6 mm of rain, highest in the district. The least of 2 mm was recorded at Kerekatte in Sringeri and Gonibeed in Mudigere taluks.
