Rains in DK, Kodagu

Parts of Dakshina Kannada received moderate intermittent rainfall on Wednesday. In the last 24 hours, the district received an average of 21.8 mm rains. Belthangady received highest of 32.2 mm rainfall followed by Sullia 28.3 mm, Puttur—25.4 mm, Bantwal—14.1 mm and Mangaluru—9.1 mm.

Dakshina Kannada has received less rainfall this year compared to the corresponding period in 2015. The district recorded an average 2,386.3 mm rainfall from January 1 to August 17, 2016 compared to the average of 2,479.5 mm rainfall recorded in the corresponding period, last year.

On the other hand, Kodagu district received an average of 16.94 mm rainfall in the last 24 hours. The water-level in Harangi reservoir stood at 2,857.68 feet against the maximum of 2,859 feet.

Shivamogga district received good spell of rains on Wednesday. Thirthahalli, Hosanagar and Sagar received good rains intermittently throughout the day.  Bhadravathi, Shivamogga received moderate rains. The water level in Linganamakki dam rose to 1,790.30 feet against the maximum level of 1,819 feet. The water level in Mani dam rose to 584.20 metres against the maximum of 594.36 metres.
