The BJP and Congress are repeatedly targetting the JD(S) because they are scared that the regional party will come to power, JD(S) state president H D Kumaraswamy said here Thursday.

“That both national parties are targetting and critiquing the JD(S) makes one thing clear: They are beginning to fear us,” Kumaraswamy tweeted.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, after having praised JD(S) supremo H D Deve Gowda, came down hard on the regional party, accusing it of joining hands with “highly extremist and communalist forces.”

Congress president Rahul Gandhi has termed the JD(S) as “Janata Dal (Sangh Parivar).” On its part, the JD(S) leadership has maintained that it will not join hands with any party in the event of a hung Assembly.

“Both parties are being troubled by the nightmare of the JD(S) coming to power. Our party will neither fear such cynicism nor bog down to anybody’s praise,” Kumaraswamy stated.
