Putting an end to the laborious task of correction of details entered for SSLC exams by schools, the Karnataka Secondary Education and Examination Board has given schools an option to make changes online.

What was done on an experimental basis last year has now been put in place in a full-fledged manner. Schools can now download provisional admission tickets online from the Board’s website with the user ID and password given to them. An option has been given to schools to edit a few details in the candidate’s hall ticket such as spelling, date of birth ,etc.

This year, around 8.46 lakh students would be writing the state board’s class 10 exams. “Previously, a nominal roll was printed and sent to schools before issuing hall tickets. Schools had to take the hard copy, mark changes in red ink and send it to us. Despite this, if there were errors, individual candidates or teachers would have to travel from their respective districts and have the changes done at KSEEB,” said Sumangala, director, KSEEB.

Mistakes in initials, names and errors in date of birth were most common in marks sheets prompting at least one lakh candidates every year to apply for corrected versions, according to officials in the Board.

This year, the fresh batch of students would be writing examination for revised syllabus for core subjects while the repeaters will take the exam as per the old syllabus.
