Most of the voters were held up at most of the polling booths who waited for the showers to stop.

Hagaribommanahalli and the surrounding areas received heavy rain, accompanied by thunder and lightning for at least 15 minutes late on Saturday evening, bringing down the mercury levels.

Rain accompanied by thunder, lightning and gusty winds, lashed Kalaburagi district on Saturday evening.

Rainfall lashed Kalaburagi city and the surrounding areas for nearly an hour. Gusty winds blew away flexes and banners put up in the city and the streets turned dusty.

Staff appointed on polling duty were winding up at the polling stations, when heavy rain accompanied with gusty winds, thunder and lightning, lashed Sirsi town and the rural areas in Uttara Kannada district, late in the evening.

The staff had a tough time in ensuring that the electronic voting machines and the VVPATs reached their destinations safely.

However, vehicles carrying the machines from the rural areas were delayed.
