Siddaramaiah courts shoe controversy again

Last Updated 22 August 2018, 20:10 IST

Former chief minister Siddaramaiah seems to be courting a shoe controversy again. On Wednesday, he was seen letting a man help him with his shoes. The entire act has been caught on camera.

Siddaramaiah was exiting the Male Mahadeshwara temple, which is next to the Idgah Maidan in the city, where he had gone to offer Bakrid prayers.

Man helped him tie shoes

Siddaramaiah was accompanied by Food and Civil Supplies Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan, on whose shoulder the former chief minister was seen leaning while the man helped him with his shoes.

In December 2016, Siddaramaiah had come under attack for letting a man tie his shoelaces outside his house in Mysuru. Siddaramaiah was the chief minister then.

Video went viral

As soon as the video went viral, he was dubbed as ‘arrogant’ and ‘pseudo socialist’ by the Opposition parties.

Siddaramaiah will be visiting the rain ravaged Kodagu on Thursday.

Speaking to reporters, he said he would review the aftermath of the flood situation, and call for the government’s attention to expedite relief works.
