Special session on GST

The state Cabinet on Wednesday decided to convene a special one-day session of the state legislature on September 14 to discuss about the Goods and Service Tax (GST) bill.

Both the Houses of the legislature will meet at 11 am on that day, Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister T B Jayachandra said.

GST stands for ‘Goods and Services Tax’ and is proposed to be a comprehensive indirect tax levy on manufacture, sale and consumption of goods as well as services at the national level. It will replace all indirect taxes levied on goods and services by the Union and the state governments. Parliament recently passed the GST Bill.
