The three-day Kumbh Mela will be held at Triveni Sangam, the confluence of Cauvery and Kabini rivers, and Spatika Sarovara (mythical lake), in T Narasipur in the district, from February 17.

A preliminary meeting, chaired by District Minister G T Devegowda, was held at Suttur Mutt branch in Mysuru on Monday.

Seers of various mutts and government officials discussed the preparations to be made for the smooth conduct of the Kumbh Mela, which attracts thousands of devotees. Devegowda told reporters, “There is no shortage of funds for Kumbh Mela. I have directed the authorities to take necessary measures for the smooth conduct of the three-day religious event,” he said. The Triveni Sangam at Tirumakudalu is the only place in South India where the Kumbh Mela is held, once in three years. The 10th Kumbh Mela was held in February 2016.
