Chapter on Bhagat Singh not removed: Karnataka Textbook Society

Primary and Secondary Education Minister B C Nagesh on Monday defended inclusion of a speech by Hedgewar in a revised Kannada textbook

No lesson or chapter on freedom fighter Bhagat Singh has been removed from the Kannada textbook for Class 10, the Karnataka Textbook Society (KTBS) has said.

A controversy has erupted following reports that a chapter on Bhagat Singh in the textbook was replaced with a speech rendered by RSS founder Keshav Baliram Hedgewar.

In response, the KTBS on Tuesday claimed that the lesson on Bhagat Singh has not been removed and said textbooks for the Kannada language for class 10 are still being printed. It, however, did not say anything about the inclusion of Hedgewar's speech.
