Last Updated 27 April 2019, 17:04 IST

With the State Intelligence department predicting a setback to JD(S)-Congress candidate Nikhil Kumaraswamy, son of Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, in three Assembly segments under Mandya Lok Sabha segment, the CM is annoyed with local MLAs and the Minister, according to reports.

The Lok Sabha segment comprises of Malavalli, Mandya, Maddur, Melkote, Srirangapatna, Nagamangala, Krishnarajpet and Krishnarajanagar Assembly segments.

The Intelligence department has reported that there will be a setback for the JD(S) candidate in Malavalli, Maddur and Mandya Assembly segments.

As per the report, it is predicted that except Halagur hobli in Malavalli taluk, Nikhil has suffered a huge set back against Independent candidate Sumalatha. In Maddur and Mandya segments too, Sumalatha is leading against Nikhil.

Internal survey

Following the polling for the Lok Sabha, JD(S) party also had conducted an internal survey, which also predicts a huge setback for Nikhil in the three Assembly segments.

According to sources, Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy has charged Malavalli MLA K Annadani, Maddur MLA, also Transport Minister, D C Thammanna and Mandya MLA M Srinivas for their failure. The CM has blamed the MLAs for their failure in taking Congress party workers into confidence during the election campaigning.

However, the report by the JD(S) claims that Nikhil will win the polls with a margin of two lakh votes. But, the report from the Intelligence claims a setback for Nikhil.

Minister for Minor Irrigation C S Puttaraju, who was also JD(S) in-charge for the Lok Sabha elections, said, he is unaware of the report from the Intelligence department. Puttaraju, who had claimed that he will retire from politics if Nikhil is defeated, said, Nikhil will win the polls and he will get a majority in all Assembly segments.
