<p>The century-old University of Mysore (UoM) has planned to establish a new engineering college on the lines of National Institute of Technology (NIT) on it’s new campus, at the foot of Chamundi Hill.</p>.<p>University of Mysore Vice Chancellor G Hemantha Kumar said that the varsity has planned to build an engineering college on its new 22-acre campus.</p>.<p>The Vice Chancellor was addressing a gathering after Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy laid foundation stone for various projects, at Crawford Hall here on Friday.</p>.<p>The Vice Chancellor said, as per the plan 50% of the seats in the proposed engineering college would be reserved for regional students and the balance for outsiders.</p>.<p>According to sources, the engineering college would be set up at a cost of Rs 170 crore. It will be a centre of national excellence and research-oriented.</p>.<p>In addition to the engineering college, a pharmaceutical college and a research centre are also planned on the new campus.</p>
