Vehicles worth Rs 41.35 lakh bought with depositors' money by the Sangolli Rayanna Cooperative Society chairman and filmmaker Anand Appugol, were seized by the Khade Bazaar police on Friday.
Appugol is the main accused in the case registered at Khade Bazaar police under IPC sections 406, 408 and 420 and has defaulted to repay crores of rupees in deposits made by people.
Vehicles like Fortuner, Innova and Qualis worth Rs 33 lakh and 30 two-wheelers worth Rs 7.85 lakh all bought with depositors' money were seized by the police.
It may be recalled that Sangolli Rayanna Cooperative Society and other organisations of the same group, had failed to repay depositors' money to the tune of Rs 240 crore.
Depositors had staged a protest and urged the state government to take measures to get their deposits refunded.
On Thursday, a section of depositors picketed in front of Appugol's residence in Hanuman Nagar and police intervened to rescue him.
