<p>"Those who scoffed and sneered at me, when had I joined the veterinary science course, appreciated me today after I bagged 11 gold medals in BVSc course." This is how the golden girl Ashwini A, a student of Veterinary College in Hassan, reacted.</p>.<p>Ashwini, a native of Hannabakuppe village in Hunsur taluk of Mysuru district, will get 11 gold medals at the 10th convocation of Karnataka Veterinary, Animal and Fisheries Sciences University (KVAFSU) Bidar, scheduled to be held on Friday.</p>.<p>The golden girl shared her joy with DH over the phone, "My father is a farmer and mother a homemaker. I have studied in a Kannada medium school. My parents and teachers played a big role in my achievement."</p>.<p>"I wanted to become a doctor. However, I got a merit seat for the veterinary science course and took it up. At present, I am pursuing my post-graduation in Kerala," she said.</p>.<p>Ashwini said that she hopes to crack the civil services exam and work for the uplift of the rural areas. </p>.<p>Apart from Ashwini, Ramkumar of Veterinary College in Bidar has clinched 8 gold medals. Basavaprabhu of Dairy Science College, Bengaluru, has won five gold medals while Gopika Radhakrishnan of Fisheries College, Mangaluru, has bagged three gold medals.</p>.<p>Degrees will be awarded to 447 students including 109 PG students during the convocation. A total of 34 students will share 66 gold medals. Twenty-nine research students will be awarded doctorate degrees, said H D Narayanaswamy, the vice chancellor of KVAFSU.</p>
