CPM general secretary Sitaram Yechury said on Friday that his party would support the Congress-led Mahagathbandhan. The aim was to defeat the Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre, which was indulging in corruption and communal politics.
Addressing reporters here, he said Modi was dividing the Hindu and Muslim communities. There was a need for a secular alternative, Yechury said.
He said the prime minister went in demonetisation with an eye on elections and called it a bigger scam than the Rafale deal.
Yechury said the Fasal Bima Yojana had ended up benefiting the insurance companies. He defended the state government’s plan to celebrate Tipu Jayanti.
