Disgruntled Congress legislator Ramesh Jarkiholi on Wednesday announced that he will resign as the Member of Legislative Assembly by evening.

Speaking to reporters in Belagavi, he said he will hold talks with a group of party MLAs who are supporting him and his well-wishers in Bengaluru before handing over the resignation letter to the Assembly Speaker. “I didn’t want to resign alone. So I delayed tendering the resignation. I will talk to my supporters and then resign today,” he stated.

He, however, did not reveal names of the MLAs who are supporting him. Mahesh Kamatahalli (Athani) and B Narengra (Ballari Rural) were among the Congress MLAs who had identified with him.

Further, Ramesh hit out at his borther-Forest Minister Satish Jarkiholi for letting him down. Satish is responsible for dissident activities in Belagavi Congress. “I will contest from Yamakanmaradi (constituency that Satish is currently representing) in the next election. And I will support Lakhan Jarkiholi in Gokak (constituency that Ramesh is currently representing),” he said.

Meanwhile, reacting to Ramesh’s move Satish said Ramesh’s son-in-law Ambirao is responsible for differences in the Jarkiholi family.
