Delhi HC dismisses with costs plea claiming princely rights over land between Yamuna and Ganga
The appellant claimed that the land between United Province of Agra running between rivers Yamuna and Ganga from Agra to Meerut, Aligarh, Bulandshahar, 65 revenue states of Delhi, including Gurgaon and Uttarakhand, came under the 'Princely State of Beswan family' and since there was no accession agreement signed between his forefathers and the Government of India, the Union of India's control over the area was an encroachment.

Around 14.70 lakh take holy dip in Triveni Sangam on Basant Panchami

As the rains continue to batter North India, all schools in Noida, Greater Noida from nursery to class 12 on Wednesday remained shut. Down south, with rains pounding most parts of Karnataka, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said the state government had reviewed the risk prone areas and is fully prepared to deal with a possible rain and flood situation. Meanwhile, on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas, celebrated on July 26 every year to commemorate the valour of the armed forces during the Kargil War, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice for India's victory over Pakistan. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, too, paid homage to Kargil war heroes and laid a wreath at the Dras war memorial. Later in the morning, PM Modi performed a Hawan Pujan at the inauguration ceremony of the redeveloped India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) complex in Delhi, which will host the G20 leaders’ meeting in September.
