Apple may host iPhone 17 series launch event in September second week

Barring the Covid-19 pandemic-induced lockdown in 2020, Apple, for more than a decade, hosted iPhone hardware events around the second or third week of September.

Amid speculations of big changes in the iPhone 17 series, a new report has emerged that said Apple may host the iPhone launch event early next month.

Citing local smartphone retailers, German blog iphone-ticker.de claimed that Apple's hardware programme will kick off on September 9, which falls on Tuesday.

The pre-order window is slated to open on the same week on Friday (September 12), and the devices are expected to hit stores globally in the following week on September 19.

Barring the Covid-19 pandemic-induced lockdown in 2020, Apple, for almost a decade, hosted hardware events around the second or third week of September. So, the rumoured date might turn true.

Apple is expected to send media invites at least a week or 10 days before the D-day. We will know for sure in September first week.

iPhone 17 series: Here's what we know so far

Like the previous iteration, Apple is expected to launch at least four iPhone 17 series variants.

However, the devices are said to come with all-new design languages.

Also, there will be a special iPhone 17 variant, which is expected to be called either iPhone 17 Slim or iPhone 17 Air.

The iPhone 17 Air will succeed the iPhone 16 Plus model. As the name suggests, it will sport a super slim design with just 5.5mm thickness. Due to the design limitation, Apple may remove the physical SIM slot.

And, incorporate a new advanced battery with high power carrying capability.

It is expected to feature a 6.55-inch display, and Apple is said to incorporate a new kind of high-energy-density battery cell, which can store more power and occupy less space compared to conventional phone batteries used in the current crop of premium phones.

As per leaked visuals of iPhone 17 models, they will come with a refreshing camera module design.

They will occupy the whole top slot on the back and retain the uniqueness of the iPhone.

Even the iPhone 17 Air will have a different camera design compared to the iPhone 16 Plus. It will feature a horizontally aligned long capsule with a single main camera sensor on the left side and the LED flash on the opposite side. Whereas the regular iPhone 17 model will have a vertically aligned module with dual-camera sensors and LED flash, the same as the iPhone 16.

Apple will use an OLED display with Pro Motion technology on all four iPhone 17 variants. They will also support a 120Hz refresh rate. And, they will come with A19 series silicon.

The standard iPhone 17 and 17 Air may feature watered-down A19 chipsets, whereas the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max will have more cores in the A19 Pro silicon.

The prices of iPhone 17, 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max are expected to start at Rs 79,900, Rs 89,900, Rs 1, 19,900 and Rs 1,44,900, respectively.
