Vivo offers sneak peek at 'Vision', company's first mixed reality headset

Vivo also announced the launch of Vivo Robotics Lab, which will produce robots for home and personal use of customers.

Popular phone maker Vivo has showcased 'Vision', the company's first-ever mixed reality headgear, at the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2025 in Shenzhen.

The new Vivo device has a striking resemblance to Apple's Vision Pro. It comes in a cool ski goggles design, and it also features fabric-based headband.

We are not sure if the mixed reality headset will come with inbuilt battery or will be offered a attachable battery pack.

Below the glass panel, there are a couple of sensors, which we believe will track the hand gesture to navigate through virtual user interface.

Vivo also announced the launch of Vivo Robotics Lab, which will produce robots for home and personal use of the customer.

"By leveraging vivo's decade of 'BlueTech' experience in fields like AI large learning models and imaging, together with the real-time spatial computing capabilities accumulated through vivo Vision, vivo will focus on developing two core areas, the 'brain' and 'eyes' of robots. At the same time, vivo will focus on the consumer market, developing robotic products for personal and home use. Vivo aims to bring technology out of the laboratory and into users' everyday lives. This way, it will focus on gradual breakthroughs and continuous innovation to address real-life scenarios and solve user pain points, iterating product development along the way," said Hu Baishan, executive vice president and Chief Operating Officer at Vivo and president of the Vivo Central Research Institute.

The news comes close on the heels of Apple planning to launch Internet of Things (IoT) gadgets, including a smart doorbell series, later this year.

Apple, Google, Meta, Amazon, Samsung, iRobot, Signify, Connectivity Standards Alliance (previously known as Zigbee Alliance) have developed 'Matter' an open standard for smart home technology. This allows all smart home devices with different operating systems to work seamlessly with digital assistants such as Siri (with Apple Intelligence), Alexa, and Google Assistant.

The specification for Matter v1.0 standard was released in 2022, and since then, several certified products have made their way to store shelves.

We believe Vivo will also bring a similar smart home ecosystem of IoT devices soon.
