Laxman tweets about Udupi teacher who drives school bus

Former Indian cricketer V V S Laxman took to his twitter handle to laud the PT teacher of Barali Government School, Brahmavar.

The teacher has been making efforts to retain the students, by driving the school bus to ferry schoolchildren to the school.

The tweet said: “Students in Baralli village in Udupi district had to trek 6 kms to reach their school. A lot of students started dropping out. Rajaram, the school teacher for science and maths took on the mandate to solve the problem and himself started driving a bus to carry and drop students.”

A large number of the cricketer’s followers have lauded and appreciated the teacher’s work. Reacting to the tweet, Indian Professor Rao lauded cricketer for appreciating the work of teacher Rajaram. “The people of Udupi will respect you. Let your appreciation be a model for all.”

Prathviraj Shetty in his tweet said, “Laxman sir... Let your tweet inspire thousands of people.”

“Teachers like Rajaram is an asset to the country,” said Narayanan K R Sharma.

DH had published the news under the headline “This teacher drives school bus” on July 10. A native of Hebri in Udupi, Rajaram has been serving in the school for the past 15 years. Along with physical education, he also teaches mathematics and science to the students. He drives approximately 60-km every day.
