Vatal demands high-level probe on temple tragedy

Kannada Chaluvali Vatal Paksha president Vatal Nagaraj on Sunday demanded the state government conduct an investigation by a high-level agency on Kichhgutti Maramma temple prasada case.

Speaking to reporters after visiting K R Hospital, here, he said, he would stage a protest in this regard, in front of Suvarna Vidhana Soudha, Belagavi, where the winter session of the state legislature is underway.

“The culprits should be hanged and I will stage a protest during the session,” he said.

The government must increase the compensation amount from Rs five lakh to Rs 10 lakh for the kin of the deceased, he demanded.

Nagaraj also accused Health Minister Shivananda S Patil of negligence and demanded his resignation.
