2020-21 darkest year of economy, says P Chidambaram

During a video-conferencing interaction, Congress Leader P Chidambaram highlighted economical situation of the country amid Covid-19 crisis and said that the 2020-21 is the “darkest year” of the economy in four decades. “The GDP in 2020-21 is lower than the GDP in 2018-19. 2020-21 has been the darkest year of the economy in four decades. The performance in the four quarters of 2020-21 tells the story. The first two quarters witnessed the resist of 24.4 % and 7.4 %. The estimated rates of 0.5% and 1.6% were due to a very low base of 3.3 and 3.0 % in the corresponding quarters of the previous year,” Congress, P Chidambaram.
