Central trade unions call for 2-day nationwide strike

A two-day nationwide strike has been called by central trade unions on January 8-9 against the alleged repressive policies for workers adopted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government.

Various unions including farmers, teachers and banks have joined the strike.

Members of Central Trade Unions blocked railway line in Howrah demanding minimum wages and social security schemes among others.
