Police conduct late-night inspections at jails in Gujarat

Gujarat Police on March 24 carried out inspections in all the jails in the state. The Police conducted raids at Ahmedabad jail, Surat’s Central Jail Lajpore and Rajkot Central Jail. The groups of police arrived at the jails at late night. “1700 police personnel carried out raids in 17 jails. The reasons behind raids are to see if any kind of illegal activities are taking place inside the jail and to check whether prisoners are getting all the facilities they’re entitled to as per the law. Raids to continue till morning. Some mobile phones have been seized but a detailed report is yet to come,” said Gujarat DGP Vikas Sahay.
